White silkie Q

Hi
We only have one white silkie. Can you breed them with other colors?
Or would they not ever throw a white without another white? What would you get if they were
in with splashes? Thanks for any help
Figure we will have to get more whites. Lol!
Thanks
Angela

white can mask other colors so even breeding to another white you could possibly get colored chicks....i think

Hi
Thanks I wondered if it was like in rabbits where a white could mask another color.
Anyone?

Not unless they one parent is dominant white and the other recessive white, which would be uncommon.  Most white silkies are recessive white.  If they came from a paint breeding, they maybe/probably are dominant white.

White X white should always give white chicks.  White X anything else is essentially mixing an unknown (the white) into a known.  X + 3 is impossible to answer if you have no idea or collateral information on what X is.
