The last chick that hatched yesterday afternoon hasn't been doing much walking around. All it wants to do is curl up and sleep. Anything we can do for it?

These are my first chickens, gifts from a daughter for Christmas. Once they started laying, it's rare to have a day without one egg from each hen. They come when I call them, stay close to the...

I have six Japanese Bantams. Five hens and one rooster. Grace, Zoey, Lemon, DeLacey, and DeLaney are the hens, and George Tucker is my rooster. They make up about 1/5 of my chickens. I have all...

I just LOVE my sicilian buttercup, Poppy. Anytime I go outside she loves to hop up onto my back or my arm. She's very curious and loves to he held or played with. I've also noticed that she loves...

Sick Chick?
its a baby that just used all of its energy getting out of an egg. Let him sit for a day or two. If he's not jumping around soon then try some save-a-chick to get him moving.
I became interested in hatching and raising chickens during a genetics class where we manipulated the genetic code of chicken embryos. One year later, I have many chickens, mostly Ameraucanas and Easter Eggers. I believe in order to truly respect and appreciate chickens, you must hatch them on your own. I still attend college and live with my parents, who graciously accepted my chicken habit on...

We are giving the chick Vitamin E and water by syringe. It doesn't look good. It can't hold its head up or walk. We have it in the cage with the other, but separated from them because they were walking all over it. My son looked it up and it said the chick might have wry neck.
Would sav-a-chick work for this?

You can try Poly-vi-sol drops without iron. You can find it at Riteaid or CVS, it's infant vitamin drops. I put a dropper full in the chicks water for all chicks till they are a couple weeks old. With a weak chick you can give a drop of the polyvisol right in it;s beak. You can make a mash with the chick feed and water, give in a dropper.
Some chicks have problems you can't always see. Poyvisol is really good stuff it perks up wimpy chicks almost instantly, I love it
Bantam Cochins & Silkies,
I raise bantam cochins in brown red, lemon blue, lemon blue frizzle. Silkies, black, white, buff.
