Hello from Asheville

I've been on BYC for 2 hours and now I have more question then when I started. haha My husband and I moved to NC a year ago. We have a 3 month old daughter, 12 hens and 5 baby chicks. We are raising our gals organically and some of the eggs are going to a local BnB. We have two hen yards with 1 coop in each yard. We have small coop designs and 1 flock currently free ranges but they will all eventually roam around together.

Any tips on where to find some Lavender Orpingtons down here? Do you think they'd be a good breed for us considering we are selling eggs? Or should I go with some Rhode Island Reds or Wyandottes??? I'm afraid of introducing any mousy breeds to our big girls. Thanks for listening folks!

Daria: Could you possibly be referring to the harsh light of reality?

Hello and Welcome. Love, Love Ashville. I'm in Eastern NC. If you scroll down on this forum to Buy ~ Sell ~ Trade, there maybe some breeds you're looking for. Or try Craigslist ~ Charlotte area. You could also look at poultry classified section at NC Agricultural Review here: http://www.ncagr.gov/paffairs/AgReview/class.htm
