Height of Run

Thread Starter

I'm building my first coop and run this week and I know what the space requirements are per bird, but I am curious if there is a desired height for the run? I am currently looking at with my design a run that is 2 1/2 feet tall but can make it taller.

When we did our run we decided to go with 6' tall so we could walk in through our own access door and tend to the chickens feed water give treats or just hangout with them (yes I have 2 chairs inside the run and we sit and hangout with them almost everyday lol) I have found a tall run very convenient for us:)

I haven't done my run yet , but am partioning part of my shed off..There are double doors that will be connected to my outside run, because of their "height", and I also, want to be able to walk into the run to clean and such, my run will most likely have atleast a 6 ft pitch over those double doors, probably going to go with 5 feet as side heights, (my run is going to be 12 x 18 or 20..

Seems like I daily change my mind and things (coop, run) are getting bigger than I originally 'thought':)
