Just curious....those that raise meat birds year round....Do you generally get fairly significant weight differences in spring vs fall birds?
My fall birds at 9 weeks averaged 6.4 and 5lbs for males and females respectively.
My spring birds at 8.5 weeks averaged 5.1 and 4.4 for males and females respectively.
My first guess was the obvious one...that fall birds pack on more fat and feather for the cooler temps. I live here in Mobile and we have had a relatively warm fall and an even warmer spring. I just wanted to see if this is the general rule of thumb for meaties since this is only my second batch. I am growing Freedom Rangers for what its worth and this batch seems to be more active than the last. The feed is the same and the only difference is that the fall birds spent perhaps a week longer in the brooder but other than that i have not changed anything.
