I was told by someone that used one, that they aren't any good. If I were you, I would buy the GQF heating element for $7 instead of buying an expensive ceramic heating bulb, or buying a bunch of Incandescent light bulbs. I use the light bulbs, but one of these days, I will have an incubator that doesn't use the bulbs for heating.

In the beginning there was nothing. God said, Let there be light! And there was light. There was still nothing, but you could see it a whole lot better. Ellen DeGeneres

Only place I know of to get the GQF heating elements is on the Web; Ebay, Amazon, Google Shopping.........

The ceramic elements will not work in my experience.  They take a while to heat up and take a long time to cool down.  You need something that heats up quickly and cools down quickly.  Even though I have used light bulbs successfully in the past, the wire elements are by far the best.

I have an Rcom, and took it apart, the wire is very small, and probably wont heat a large space very well, unless the walls and sides of the incubator are lined with the stuff.

i am planning on building my incubator out of 18mm marine plywood, interior will be primmed to seal the pores

the only thing im struggling on is

what heating elemnt to use and from that decide how big it should be for the element to not get over worked

im getting as much info as i can before i design it

i always design my work on ~CAD

the other thing to mention is although it will be a fully functioning Incubator, it will purely be used as a hatcher and i wont be putting in a turner for that reason
