Hi, from PA

Hello,

I'm Jessica or Jess. I'm 24. I've been lurking for a while and finally decided to join. :) I'm a new chicken owner. I have always loved chickens since I was a kid and I'm finally living the dream of owning them! I got 6 lovely chicks about a month ago.  Sadly I lost one and another was pretty sick, but we nursed her back to health.  Now I am her mother hen and she always wants to be with me.  I don't mind she's so cute and I have fallen in love. I guess she's going to be an actual pet. LOL! The other 4 are acting more like chickens they are now huge. I believe they are about 5 weeks old now.

Quick question: The chick that was sick, Lilly, is so much smaller then the others. It's like she's developing really late compared to the others. Is this normal? I got them all at the same time and they all used to look like they were the same age.  I'm thinking her growth was stunted due to her being sick? She looks like she's growing now though!

Besides chickens, I really love horses!! I own a thoroughbred gelding who is the love of my like. He's Jessie. :) I also love Pomeranian dogs and have 3 of them. And I can't forget my 3 cats and 2 rats! :)

I can't wait to meet everyone!! :)

The chick could be a bantam. And the other large. wink.png Your lucky to have a Thoroughbred!! Welcome to BYC!! yippiechickie.gif

It's the shape that makes the breed, and the color that makes the variety.

Opps,

Thank you JerseyGiantfolk! I love my horsey!! :) I was thinking she could be a bantam.  I got them out of the pullet bin, so who knows what breed she really is till she gets older I guess. :)

Helen: Daria, do you have to look at everything in such a negative light?

Daria: Could you possibly be referring to the harsh light of reality?
