This EE...Pullet or Cockeral??

Hello,

I have an EE that is now 9-10 weeks of age.  Right from the start it has had roo-ish behaviors...chest bumping, chasing after, ruffling of the it's feathers in a stand tall manor, etc. I'm hoping someone can tell me by the pics what's gender is. I think the noise I heard this morning coming from the tractor was a beginners crow! I have checked for spurs and can feel a little bump..... but I don't know at what age they begin to devlope either. Opinions welcomed!!

Did you hatch it? Do you know if the father was the EE and the mother was the Barred rock or vice versa?

If the father was an EE and the mother a BR, it would be male.

The comb appears to be raised enough for concern, though I don't see anything else to lead me to think it's a cockerel. All chickens have spur bumps. My barred rock rooster is just starting to develop spurs and he is a year old.

If it is starting to attempt to crow, it is more then likely a cockerel. Mine did not show signs of being a cockerel at all, thought it was a pullet, until about 15 weeks of age when it started to sound like fingernails on a chalkboard, he has mastered his "call" now!

I don't think the OP knows if this was the one attempting to crow or not. But I would agree, if it is crowing, it is most likely a roo.

Cockerel

Breeding Welsummers and Barnevelders.

Having an Icelandic in the coop is like having a 2 year old in the house - they are into everything and don't follow the rules.

I have zero chicken willpower.

I did not hatch it. As for the gender/breed of the parents I do not know that either. Guess I should ask the guy I got them from. Thank you for your input and sharing your knowledge!
