Agrimaster VS Layena

Okay, so I need facts. I've always fed my duckies (two Calls) Agrimaster feed. Never really thought about it. A friend told me that the Purina Layena is better then Agrimaster's Layer food. So I bought a bag. $5 dollar difference, ouch. I compared the three top ingredients, exact same only different orders! Only thing is, Agri didn't have this roughage stuff in it. The top ingredients were:
Layena: Agrimaster:
Processed Grain byproducts Grain products
Grain Products Plant protein products
Plant Protein Products Processed Grain Byproducts
Calcium Carbonate Animal Protein Products
Roughage Products all the vitamin additions.
THEN all the vitamin additions.
So, based on this, what would you feed your ducks? I have a call pair as of now, hoping to add another hen.

Side note: Whichever one is better, I'm gonna feed. Price isn't that big of a deal.

Mazuri waterfowl feed is better than both of those. You can also concider an all flock product both purina and nutrena make one.

Ah, I would love to feed Mazuri. Sadly, out of reach financially.

My Farm & Fleet (which is where I used to get Agrimaster feed) is now carrying Nutrena pelleted feeds. The Nutrena "All Flock" 18% protein feed is basically the same thing as the Purina Duck Grower pellets (also 18% protein) that I've been driving farther and paying $5 more/bag to buy for my ducks!

So, I highly recommend the Nutrena! And I've always preferred pelleted feeds for my ducks (even tiny Calls) - the pellets stand up better to getting splashed on by the ducks, and I end up with a LOT less waste.

However, if the Agrimaster and the Layena are your only two options, go with the Agrimaster. The Agrimaster has animal protein in it, whereas Layena is an all-grain (vegetarian) feed last time I checked. The benefit of an all-grain feed is that it gives chicken eggs a better flavor - any animal or fish proteins in the feed could give chicken eggs meant for human consumption a weird flavor. Personally, I think ducks need that animal protein - they're omnivores, not herbivores! I fed my Calls Layena for a little while, and they didn't look as healthy and glossy while they were on it. Just my opinion though!

Instead of asking an opinion here why not go by what your ducks think. By that I mean: which feed do they do better on, look better, seem to enjoy (thats a hard one since I have only seen ducks scarf it down like they will never eat again) all the things you know about your ducks should help you make that decision without opinions from random people across the globe.

When reading labels the order of the ingredients is whatever the most will be first. Same with nutrition labeling for grocery product so ie: if the first ingredient is water is will be mostly water. I hope that helps
