Sore on Beak 3 weeks old-I am a brand new turkey Mom

Hi! I am a new Turkey poult "Mom" of less than a week.  My first poultry ever.  One of my two three week old babies has a scrape/cut on top of beak that I would like to clean off and put something on to prevent infection but don't have a clue what to use.  Its not bad, but would like to keep it that way. It was a bruise yesterday and a sore today--I think from banging the beak on the 1/4 in coated wire on side of the pen...  I was going to use the Veterycin spray I use on all the other pets & horses on Q tip but wasn't sure if that was OK for turkeys--or it OK to use something like neosporin...  I want to make sure I am doing the correct thing for the little one, and don't kill her with kindness or ignorance.  Advice appreciated!smile.png

I think I have seen people use what is called blu kote for birds with wounds google it to make sure.

We use blue kote on our turkeys with no problems. Spray it on a q-tip and then apply it to the wound. If you get it on your hands, use a kitchen scrubby and soap and it will mostly rub off.

Barred rocks, red sex link, silver wyandotte, white leghorns, mottled cochin banty, silkie, blue swedish and khaki campbell ducks, meat rabbits, white holland turkeys, turtles, cats, and as much garden space as one can cram into a small urban yard half given over to the chickens
