Hey does anyone know if people in the zip code 89052 can have chickens or even hens? I really want to have even one chicken but I can't find out if I can have one.

Does anyone know? I really want to get chickens but I need some feedback on what others have found about the laws here.

Does anyone know if there is any good website that I can find out by the area code and is updated to this year's regulations?

I live in henerdon envy also yes you can have hens no rosters your suppose to get written permission form any one living 200 feet but I didntas long as u keep smell under controlled where neighbors don't complain animal controlled wont mess with u I'm in 89015 zip. Now if u live home owner's. Association.that whole other story

The local ordinances for Henderson, NV, are in the municipal code 7.04.120. BTW, it is written consent of everyone within 350 feet, not 200.

Having gone through the rigamaroles of City Hall and research, I can tell you that Animal Control doesn't want anything to do with chickens *unless* they're not being treated nicely. They'll turn over any complaints of noise and odors to the City compliance and regulators, who will basically tell you if you don't have the requisite permission from neighbors to get rid of the chickens. They won't physically confiscate them, but you will be subjected to fines and you've opened the door for them to keep checking and checking your property. If you do have the written *revocable* permission (meaning that when a neighbor complains it is then officially revoked), you won't get fined....and you still have to get rid of the chickens.

The ordinance states to file the neighhbors' forms with Aniimal Control. They don't want them. Take them up to City Hall and they'll scan them in the Compliance office.

Off the cuff, the general unofficial concensus at City Hall is that it's the immediate neighbors that hold the most sway as they're the ones most likely to hear and be affected by the birds. But any neighbor within 350 feet that decides to complain (and, believe me, there are folks out there motivated for all sorts of reasons, legitimate or not) will set the wheels in motion.

Best bet is to get real friendly with all the immediate neighbors and make sure your coop does not make noise, smell, or attract flies and rodents.

And, yes, HOA's are a whole 'nother story..... Even if you have the consent of everybody in the neighborhood and have complied with all the above-mentioned rulse, they can still put the squelch on your coop and deny your backyard hens. (I know from personal experience)

I will never live in a HOA I dont see why any one would want to. I figure I am in luck right now with my chickens I have drug dealers living next door they sure in the heck ant going to bring officals any where near there house. the people behind me has a pig next house is abonded house next to that one is there never in there back yard and dont really see them caring house next to that is a another drug house (the cops are watching) and our other next door neighbors love my chickens I just have to worry when new people move in.

i live in henderson too. i called animal control and they told me nope we are not allowed to have chickens at all unless zoned for farm animals. i do knwo a few people that keep them anyway.. my neighbors i had just all moved so i'm still in the process of making friendly with them..

i am wondering though if quails fall under a farm animal clause or if i could keep a half dozen quails??? i guess i'll have to call again.. they probably make more noise than the chickens though..
