Posted these a month or so ago, but they've matured enough I think you guys can help. They were part of an order from Ideal, a rare pullet special....They were hatched 2/1, so they are 3 months old...

2 years ago, a flat-lander, in FL, hiding in the house due to 8 months of heat and humidity every year. Now, living in the Smoky Mountains, gardening, keeping chickens, and loving life. You CAN teach an old dog new tricks. I used to list here the breeds of chickens I owned. There is not enough room to do that anymore. I have lots of chickens....

Partridge rock and Welsummer?

Well, the kittens aren't so cute anymore and the easter egger cockerels are in the freezer. Plus, I think offering them as "prizes" scared folks off! So, I'm still posting quotes, if you know it let me know. I'm very enamored of this new one, it may hang around for a while!

#1 kinda looks like a Red Star but usually they are not so dark.  Maybe a cross breed.  The #2 is an Easter Egger.  It looks JUST like my Lady Bird.  How old are they?  They both look like hens to me.

My life is 2 lil' girls( Gabbi & Morgan), 3 dogs(Luci, Jacki, &Tyson), 2 fish(Harper & Sliver), 1 Easter Egger(Lady), 2 Golden Laced Wynadottes(Gilly & Belle), 2 Buff Orpingtons(Sugar & Blondie), 2 Leghorns(Turbo & Nitro, my husband's), 3 Red Stars(Peaches, Nilla, & Mash), & 2 Golden Links(Trebby & Baby, she is so small). And a husband(Brian)! & I am Sara, howdy!

EDIT: The second one looks like a Red Dorking with some white on her head. Though I agree with Rooaroo, she could be a EE mix, but they aren't heritage. The first one, well, can't really tell, I'd have to see her standing to see her shape smile.png

It's the shape that makes the breed, and the color that makes the variety.

Well, Welsummers have yellow shanks (legs) Red Dorkings look a lot like Welsummers, but they have pink shanks like the one above. smile.png

Here is a link to Ideal's breed lists, and it doesn't seem to list "red" dorkings, only silver gray...

Hm, okay, so its probably a Welsummer with a little bit of something else in it.

What's thrown us, is that it seems to have white earlobes. I don't think wellsummers have white earlobes.

the first one appears to have white earlobes while the 2nd one appears to have red but with hatchery chickens you can get off colors on legs and earlobes, like my oegb has a bit of white on his lobes when hes supposed to be solid red lobes
