Bluebirds and house wrens - Page 2

I read something in Birds and Blooms about this issue. The article dealt with sparrows specifically, but maybe it would work for wrens as well. It recommends drilling a 2" hole in the top of the birdhouse. Sparrows don't like the light, but bluebirds don't mind. I hope this helps. Oh, and to deter wasps from moving in, I've heard you can line the top inside with aluminum foil. Good luck~

The bluebirds built a nest in the bluebird nest box I have set out, but the eggs got taken by a 'coon or other predator before I could put up more protection(the nest box now has a predator guard on the entrance hole). The bluebirds haven't done anything else since and now a male House Wren is shoving the nest box full of sticks to impress his mate.

Well, we do the best we can, and that is that. I hope you are blessed with bluebird eggs again soon.

Well, I'm not planning on the bluebirds trying again. It's been at least a month or so since the incident and they've shown no interest in nesting(maybe they're nesting somewhere else at the moment). I welcome the House Wrens! smile.png They're so fiesty and fun to watch and listen to!
