Is this still a cayuga duck? *update* post one

Okay update time, Cinderella is 5 1/2ish weeks old now. Anyone want to take a guess at the gender? Do we have a Cinderella or Prince Charming? The quacking still sounds the same as of right now, pic was taken this morning. Also both Snow White and Cinderella have the same stance, is it possible that Snow white is a Snowy Mallard not a pekin?olderducks.jpg

Duckling is black with a dirty yellow shine. Cinderella is starting to feather and has this black and brown pattern emerging. She has the same shape as my Pekin duckling and I'm assuming she's a girl.

I took the best photo I could and I included one I enhanced to get the pattern I'm seeing.

No a Cayuga would not have brown feathering like that.

Hmmm any idea what breed it may be? It was a TSC duck and I grabbed up the only all yellow and the only all black one they had.

Maybe a Khaki Campell? If they are hens, they will start quaking at about 6 weeks, drakes will have a raspier sound.

Both peep now and they sound the same. Guess I'll just have to wait a few more weeks :(

The black ducklings from TSC are dark mallards. My store orders from cackle hatchery. I know a TSC manager that was in charge of Chick days here near me and we talked about it. Cackle seems  to have sent a non-typical mallard or two in each TSC order. We assume it was an easy way to get rid of them and the customer not careing that the babies are not spot on with the markings. Your duckling will be a Mallard just a little darker. The duckling will start out with the female mallard coloring but when it is around 6 weeks old IF it is a boy the greys will start to blend in , IF its a girl the browns will continue.

ETA: Although not all TSC order from Cackle I would assume the same practice is done at each hatchery. Its easier to give the odd balls to the bulk buyers suck as TSC than to sell the oddball to the general public and them complain their duckling looks different than what its suppose to. Know what I mean.

Not all TsC get their ducks from the same hatchery.

It is also not a khaki, they do not feather with a pattern.

If its the same shape and size as the Pekin then it's a Rouen.

Here is a pic of some of my Mallards. The one up front is Jet, he is 6 weeks old. He started out as one of the TSC black mallards. We know he is a boy due to his whispy quack and grey feathers coming in on his rear. The duckling in the background on the right is another TSC black mallard. We believe it is a girl. She is 4 weeks old and has a defined "quack" and is slowly getting louder. She has no grey feathers coming in. The one in the rear left is a typical mallard, wit typical marking. She is also 4 weeks old.

Ours said they got them from Mt. Healthy here in Ohio. Do you have a pic of the mallard as a 3ish week old baby?

I just googled pics of both black mallard and Rouen and they don't look anything like what Cinderella looks like. Is it possible it could be a mix?
