A very colorful mix of bantams - WHAT are we??? ETA New Photos - Page 2

Well, they could be hatchery Sebrights. Hatcheries sometimes sell birds that ae not completely true to the breed wether its the wrong comb type, wrong leg color, bad coloring of feathers, a total "oops!" chicken, etc. they could be Sebrights with the wrong comb. As for the other one, it looks like a Rosecomb, but I'm not sure if it's a Sliver Sebright. I could be one with bad coloring though. Again, with some hatcheries, you never know what you'll get. Where did they come from?

If that is an OEGB, it is a roo.  OEGB pullets have very tiny, nonexistent combs for a very long time.  Here is a pic of my OEGB mix pullet (she looks more OEGB than anything) at 18 weeks....

I got these ones from TSC Chick Days, so I wouldn't be surprised if they are mutts/bad blood. It's okay though, I love them anyways love.gif

Also, I just have to say I really appreciate your insight. I love learning about chickens (only a year into chickens, so I'm a newbie) and you have helped me a lot. So thank you frow.gif

What a pretty bird. Well that;s disappointing =/ I was really hoping I wouldn't have to get rid of him.

I'm a newbie as well, except I have been researching chickens for about a year now, even when I wasn't allowed to have them. Now, I can put it to use. TSC gets their birds from different hatcheries, so you'd have to ask them where they got theirs. I know mine gets them from Mt. Healthy. They are a very pretty mix of birds. Good luck with them! I am willing to help anytime.

We think she is beautiful also :)  However, since she is a mix, I have no idea what to call her color.  Her mom is a white d'uccle and her dad is a silver wheaten OEGB.  Looking on Ideal's website, she really looks quite a lot like a silver wheaten OEGB pullet :)  Check it out.  I'm glad you asked this question cause I'm pleased to see that she took after her papa!!!

I didn't see that she was a mix. Why is it that mixes are some of the prettiest chickens? I love her!

I completely agree about mixes. Sometimes, they get the best of both breeds.
