I posted on here when we first got our chickens, worried that one of the Black Aus was a rooster.  You all assured me that early tail feathers weren't a sign, in fact quite the opposite.  And you were right.

So now I'm worried about the smallest chicken.  haha  The Buff Orps are only 7.5 weeks, while my other birds are a few weeks older.  This chicken is the only one with a comb like this.

Thoughts?

My starter brood of chicks (no one has died yet, surprisingly): 2 Black Australorps, 2 Light Brahams, 2 Cuckoo Marans, and 2 Buff Orpingtons.

Well, the pic at the very bottom looks just like my 2 Buff Orpingtons.  The one with the bigger, redder comb is male, the one with the smaller less red comb is female.

At least that's what I think.  Like I said, I have 2 that look EXACTLY like yours.  And if they aren't 1 boy and 1 girl, I'll be mad!!!

So it's an absolute sure thing at this point? Just wondering if I should wait it out or start making "arrangements."

Boy.

Mark 11:22-23

"Have faith in God," Jesus answered. "I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.

It all depends I have 11 hen and 1 rooster and debated on getting rid of him but I am so glad i didnt because he is very good with the hens and actually he went after one of our dogs the other day because she got to close to his hens. Also when one of our hens is in the nest box laying he sits in the coop with them and keeps the other hens away from her so she can do her business with a little privacy. I do agree though you do have a roo on your hands you can also look at their tails and see the difference too.
