New from Wisconsin

Thread Starter

Hello, I am Dave, a new member from Spread Eagle Wisconsin. My son has wanted to raise chickens for a few years  now so we finally got together and built a coop and fenced in a yarding area. Now it is time to get the birds. I have the chick feeders and waterers. Infrared heat lamps. Almost everything is in place. I would like to have maybe 8-10 layers at the most, a rooster or 2 for an alarm clock, and maybe look into having a few ducks or geese in the future.

I have had at one time over 30 rabbits, so I am not green to raising animals, but I am sure that I will need lots of advice when it comes to chickens, so I will probabaly be asking questions if I can't find answers searching the site. Otherwise I am usually pretty quiet when it comes to "typing" on forums. Just doesn't come easily for me.

Thanks for a great and informative website. Hopefully I will be able to contribute some day.

Helen: Daria, do you have to look at everything in such a negative light?

Daria: Could you possibly be referring to the harsh light of reality?
