Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat - Page 102

Holy Cra*! $12,000?!?! My shipping is insured and costs $200 and i thought i paid to much!

The other day, upon entering our town, we posted a sign saying,

One California farmer feeds 200+ people, including YOU.

then two days later in the paper a article was written...

".....while roaming the petite little town we call Denair, I came across a sign stating that one calfornia farmer feeds 200+ people. I find that to be a complete lie. We do not rely on a smelly old farmer to feed us, thats what walmart and raleys is for. And to those who posted this particular sign, quit your fibbing and please buy real food like a normal human being."

i repled promtley telling them that if all of the worlds farmers quit farming wed all be left for dead either eating dirt or feasting on each other. 56 other replys were written, 99% of them i cant post on here.

"You got anything vegan?"

"These brownies have eggs from well treated hens that live right over there."

"Ah, no that's alright. My daughter doesn't like chickens, but I'll get a cookie for her."

It's the shape that makes the breed, and the color that makes the variety.

I should not have been surprised, because the previous week she told me, with a great air of authority, that peonies would not bloom if one removed the ants from the buds because the ants pollinate the flowers, therefore they can't bloom out without ants. th.gif

Now this one is priceless....a college chemistry professor.....oh my...the peonies part, this is elementary school stuff

My 5 year old grandson got to gather eggs for the first time after bringing the eggs from the coop to the house with no causalities, he helped me wash them to put them  in the carton to be put in the refrigerator. Well of coarse he broke one. So I said new rule at grandma's house if you break an egg you have to eat it. And he says,  You can eat them? ep.gif

The peonies thing is a very well established myth that the prof got a little wrong--most people think the buds can't open without the ants rather than pollination. But I would love to figure out how just a fully formed foot got into an egg...

We have a flock of 75-ish hens: Blue Copper Marans, Barred Rock, Red Sex Links, Black Sex Links, Easter Eggers, Tetra Tints, white Leghorns, dark Cornish, various colors of Rocks, some barnyard mixes, and a little Buttercup, who's just here for pretty.

Also 35 broilers plus six Easter Egger cockerels in the meat pen. But they won't be here long.

Glad I don't have to eat at their houses. sickbyc.gif   I wonder what they think farms are for? Or, apple trees?

Owned by 2 grown offspring, 2 spoiled cats (Albert and Stanley), and 7 (correction: 10; chicken math, ya know) silly biddies: Blanche, Clara Cluck, Dorothy, Olivia, Miss Prissy, Agnes, Edwina, Eunice, Ruby and Bernice, who fill my basket with gorgeous multicolored eggs.
