Earlier i had my quail d'anver hen on my shoulder while walking through town. I overheard a couple, saying that that owl on my shoulder was weird. Haha. Funny people, my owl is at home in his enclosed yard with hi GF and food. This is a chicken. People amuse me, like watching newborn chicks chase butterflies and grasshopers.

I had a hens lay an eggs, i never had a rooster, Until i got 2 of them..

And 21 of my hens died by diseases and ran away by predetors.

I have Jersey giant rooster and Nankin bantam rooster.

So people say "oh now you have 2 roosters, your hens will lay more eggs."

I told them " No, its will be same no change.."

I'm with you. My fiance's grandfather was very angry when we fought him on this. He grew up on a farm that housed up to 40,000 layers and they had roosters in with them. They honestly thought you needed a rooster for eggs! th.gif

This was in the 50's though. You'd still think he should know that.

This isn't about chickens but it is REALLY dumb:

I was working at a dude ranch, and when we were riding past the corral, a lady pointed at a young filly standing with its dam and said "Why's there a deer with the horse?!?!?!?!?!?!?". It took A LOT of explaining to get her to realize it was a baby horse.

MsBagawkbagawk, we have a 3 year old doe that took to people when she was a fawn, so to prevent the citiots from shooting her, she has an orange halter.

citiot #1 "what kind of dog is that?"

citiot #2 "that's not a dog, that's a deer!"

citiot #1 "nuh uh, no deer wears a collar thing"

citiot #2 (walking over to my neighbor and me) 'scuse me maam, is that a deer?

neighbor: "no, that's a purebred Appenzeller Spitzhauben"

me: hmm.png

citiot #2 "who knew...!"

citiot #1 "told you it was a dog!"

me and my neighbor: gig.gifgig.gif

(but then I had to ask her what the heck is an Appenzeller Spitzhauben!!  and she just said... roll.png c'mon chicken lady...!  what do you think it is???

I had to go to breeds here in order to find out how to spell it!)

There was a pet deer at our Girl Scout Camp when I was young. She wore a collar but roamed the camp and surrounding area freely. She'd come up to get food and for attention regularly. Strange how some will do that.

Love those Orps!

I don't care why the chicken crossed the road, as long as mine don't!
