The melody and the words, " for those of us that were never called to be the first at basketball," I can not for the life of me remember her name. The song was basically a lament on the plight of being a plane jane average girl. I had this album back in the '70's and I can still see the cover. It was all acustic guitar. If I see the name it will click. Thanks

Janis Ian was quite controversal back in the early to mid seventies. Her first hit release was a song titled Society"s Child which implied an interracial romance and was banned, at first, from being played on the radio. She followed up with At Seventeen.
