Egg Sizes ????

Thread Starter
Hi there,
I got two RIR very close to same age, 5-6 months old. One started laying eggs about 2 weeks ago, the second one started laying 1 week ago. The first one that started laying, lays much smaller darker eggs, the other one that just started has been laying from the start a much larger egg, little lighter in color. Both hens are physically the same size, whats do you guys think about this??? thanks in advance!!!

I believe that the time for a pullet to reach her normal egg size is about 7-12 weeks, so you will really have a firm idea in awhile.

Both will probably have larger eggs--your earlier layer probably more increase than your later starter as they approach the average egg size for RIR.
