I feel like the "chicken whisperer"........haaahaaaaaa

So i've had my 2 pullet girls for a week and a half.  Louise (buff orpington) has been the somewhat shy, skittish girl.  The last couple of days when I let them out to free range, she seems to be checking me out (I stay out with them).  She has been getting closer and closer to me..........I don't try to pick them up or mess with them...just been letting them roam while I check the garden or I just sit and watch them.  Tonight me and hubby sat out with them (we sat on the edge of one of my raised beds)........they both foraged a while and then kept coming closer and closer to us.  Louise kept looking at me and just walked over and jumped up on my arm!!! She sat there for a moment, let me pet her and then jumped back down..and the 2 of them headed off to their coop for the night.

I am still stunned!!!  And glad she didn't poop on me too!

Still on the honeymoon with DH........mom to 2 rat terriers, 2 chihuahua's, 1 barred rock, 2 buff orpingtons, and 1 EE......and 1 14-year old!!  All smack dab in the middle of the city.

I AM the chicken whisperer!!!!  Again this evening, I sat out with the girls and AGAIN Louise came over and jumped up onto my arm.  She sat down and perched a while as I just talked to her.  She is so interested in me, it's kinda freakin me out!  What is even funnier is that Thelma got a little jealous I guess and kept running around me trying to figure out how to get up there so she just flew on up!  She tried getting on top of Louise so Louise jumped down and Thelma just perched herself on my arm a while.  If I end up with 2 more girls, there isn't going to be room on one arm for all 4 of them!!!

What a sweetie!  I have a chicken who loves to jump on my shoulder.  It's really cute, but darn hard to get her off when I have to go inside!

Whoever said don't count your chickens before they're hatched clearly never tried to count chickens after they're hatched.

My hen Molly will come when you clap and call her name. Sometimes I convince her to jump up on my lap, but she is always so muddy. It is so cute that your BO will give you that attention. I carried my BO Lady around with me all summer. The neighbors wouldn't stop staring. It was awesome!

Molly is my angel chicken. View my page for her story. Her wound isn't there anymore.
