dislocated

my chicken has a dislocated leg  and i was wondering if there is any way to fix it i would hate to cull her but will do if i have too

You can try putting it back in place if possible, securing with vet wrap, but understand that it will likely be crippled.

Hi tehbe,

It would be very hard to tell a dislocated leg from a broken one, I'm sorry to say.

 

A break right near a joint is almost impossible to splint. However whether it's a break or a dislocation, if it's at the hip, it's going to be very hard to fix. I doubt a dislocated hip will ever be normal no matter what you do with it. (If it's the hock joint, you may be able to splint it so the leg fuses; the bird won't be comfortable but may get by.)

 

My feeling is this would be a vet case, or a cull. Sorry to say that (and by all means ask others for ideas). sad.png

alright im waiting to hear back from serveral chicken people in the county that may be able to help me shes not a pet chicken but id still rather not kill her
