I was wondering if anybody knew if I bought some chicks from my local store that bought and sold chicks from a hatchery (its in springfieldMissouri but sold in orscheln's in Southeast MO) if anybody was wondering. But if they would go broody when older because i've heard if they come from a hatchery they don't but I was wondering if it was true thanks.  This is the hatchery www.esteshatchery.com

It really doesnt have anything to do with the hatchery, Barred rock is a maybe breed... Some wont ever, Some will once, Some will everyear... Just depends on the bird itself...

you may want to try silkies or cochins.  they tend to be better brooders.

I would never eat a cow's tongue.  Gross!  Give me an egg.

If you are looking for broodiness, and good egg laying My favorite bird is the Speckled sussex... Orpingtons are also very good birds.. As well as Brahmas.....But if you are just looking for broodiness get a cochin or silkie...
