Kinda knocks the heck out of the 'pullet egg' theory.  Beautiful, healthy looking keets.

Pretty babies love.gif Congrats!!! Is that a Chocolate I see??  And is that a Violet or a Copper? NICE!!! Thanks for sharing!

Oh yah the pullet egg thing... my first rush of early eggs to hatch on day 24/25 were all  from my older flocks this time, not my pullets. And actually the very first egg that hatched was  an egg from my one of my free range Hens that's 4 yrs old lol. I had them all locked in a pen for 3 days so I could see how many of the sneaky shifty Hens were laying, so I know their eggs were collected right away, and didn't sit out in the sun all day or anything idunno.gif

Yes it is chocolate & violet I believe. I have 1 violet hen, so I am assuming it is violet not copper. I am looking forward to hatching hundreds of more keets this yr in hopes of hatching colors that I don't already have!
We love all the pretty colors!!!

Love the colors!  I have just hatched (my first time) four lavender keets.  I'm having a great time just watching them!

One spoiled rotten beagle/lab who gets along so well with all the other animals, one grey rabbit who resides in my living room, three cats, and nine guineas.

The light ones I think are light blue. I have 1 guinea that came from a local BYC & it was suppose to be sky blue, but these keets have irregular stripes instead of being solid so I think they are light blue. The rest are all colors I have hatched last yr, but this was my first slate keet this yr as well!!!

Same story as last wk. All these guys came from pullet eggs that hatched 3 days early. The first hatched Sunday night & they were all out by dinner last night. I have several in the hatcher still drying & a few that have pipped this AM. Think I may start locking down a day earlier since the first 2 actually hatched in the incubator before I moved the eggs!!!  FYI-- my chicken eggs are NOT hatching early, just my pullet guinea eggs. I do have some regular size guinea eggs that are set so it will be an interesting comparrision in a couple of wks.

What is your success rate with hatching?  I'm looking for guinea eggs to put in my incubator now as a project with my boyfriend's son, but it's not something I've tried before!

Congrats, another nice hatch for you thumbsup.gif

The blue keets look like Coral Blues to me tho, my Lite Blues that I've hatched from my flocks have much lighter colors/striping and also have a slight/faint tan tint to their body colors, resembling Lite lavenders. (Could just be how they look in my flocks tho). Any bird can carry hidden recessives that can bring out new colors/shades that aren't in your breeding flock... so any bird carrying the blue gene (not diluted) could have helped produce Coral Blue.

Here's a Coral Blue and lite Blue from my last hatch, you can really see the color difference, especially in the body color. (The Lite Blue keet may be Pied, not sure yet).
