Between these birds I have to pick... I am looking for a bird that lays large eggs frequently, is very friendly towards the the flock and humans and is a good looking bird that does good in confinement. it must also have a long egg laying period I would not like it to burn out quickly

It Does not matter to me if the eggs are white or brown however I would like to have the yolk a darker richer colour.

Leghorns are prolific layers of large to x-large white eggs, but are quite flighty and not good as pets. Sex-links may be your best bet. They have been genetically designed to lay lots of large brown eggs. I think maybe 1 leghorn in a mixed flock would certainly behave differently than in a flock of other leghorns. If you choose to have one, I highly recommend brown leghorns. Barred-rocks and Dominiques will also lay a ton of large to x-large brown eggs. I'm not familiar with the laying nature of Wyandottes. I do encourage you to consider a mixed flock.

Thanks, yeah they will be part of A mixed flock... do you know how long sex links and leg horns lay for? I'm also interested in the speckled sussex but I am not familiar with it's laying habits
