disallowed key character, Huh?

For over a week every time I tried to get byc up, I got a blank page with 'disallowed key characters' written on it.
Even googling it, every avenue gave me 'disallowed key characters'. Finally I tried one more time last night and up came the familiar BYC. Yippee!
however, now when I try to get the 'I've posted' section up I still get 'disallowed key characters'.
What does this mean? is it my new computer? Because it was working really well on this site for a few weeks- until last week. it still works well on everything else.
Any suggestions?
 
sounds like a virus

I would do a very thorough virus scan on your computer before doing or opening anything else, even if you have a "running" scanner, do it manually.

Still have the problem and you don't know computes really well, call a friend that does and don't open any folders till you do get is fixed.
 
That's a weird problem for sure! Here are a few questions that will help us find, duplicate, and hopefully resolve the problem:

• Which browser and version are you using (eg., Firefox 3.5.9, Internet Explorer 7, etc.)
• Have you logged out, deleted your internet cache / browser history of files, logged back in, and tried again?
• Have you tried a different browser (we suggest Firefox or Chrome)?
 
When I say 'new' computer, I mean new to me. It is an refurbished IBM lenovo.
But it did allow me to get Internet explorer 8. Which does work quicker.

I have deleted history... I have to try and remember how to remove cookies though.
That might take me a while.
I will call in the teenager and bow to his awesomeness. He has no fear when it's my stuff.

I have logged out and back in twice, but no luck. I will try to find the cookie and then run a full virus scan.

At least I can get on to BYC now.
 
The high school info tech class really is useful. He knows how to remove cookies.

But he can't help on the disallowed key characters.
Oh well. I tried it all.
Maybe time will help.
I will return.
 
...and now it is working. I must have gremlins.
The virus scan was clean. I have no clue what happened unless NIffty made it all better.
