Thanks for the kind words Henny Penny 24.
Your Amber is adorable. I'm so sorry about the Marek's you experienced it is a heart breaker...and it seems there is nothing chicken owners can do.
You have really sharp eyes. Pinky-purple egg is a fake egg I keep in the nesting box--- It would be quite the chicken that could lay that color. I leave it in all the time, and the vast color difference from my chickens eggs makes gathering eggs very easy. Each one of my chickens pulls it under herself when she lays her egg...kind of like a security blanket or teddy bear or something.
Right now I have two barred plymouth rocks-- "Hester Prinn" and "Priscilla Alden", an "Ideal 236" which is a white Leghorn hybrid named "Lily White" I think she is broody, a white Easter Egger named "Bebe", an Easter Egger rooster on borrow from a friend named "Rox", and a little pair of Cream Legbars that will be 18 weeks next Monday, the boy is "Ice" and the girl is "Robin". -- Although Cream Legbars are fairly common in the UK, they are rare in the states...so we have a lot of excitement about them here.
Lily may be sitting on 7 eggs--- she hops off quite a lot---and then she goes back---so I won't know for awhile if any will hatch...and a new incubator with 7 eggs due to hatch around May 25th...... Talk about 'chicken math'--- I was never going to have more than 3 little hens, and look at me now.... ;O)
I love your Amber---and that is another one that we don't have in the USA...... better not tell us, better not import them.....or you know what might happen... lol.....
