Howdy from East Texas

Howdy-

My wife and I are new to raising chickens and love it so far. We have been wanting to raise our own eggs and meat for a while and have finally made the leap.  We have 4 golden sex-link, 1 barred rock, 2 black austrolorps, 2 ameraucana and 12 cornish x.   We lost 3 chicks (2 goldens and 1 barred) to a chicken snake 3 nights ago. The snakes are absolutely horrible this year in our part of Texas. We love to see how our chicks change and grow everyday and can't wait to be eating fresh eggs.  BYC has helped us with starting our brood so thanks to all that have posted about this and that.

Helen: Daria, do you have to look at everything in such a negative light?

Daria: Could you possibly be referring to the harsh light of reality?
