Funny you mention the music Kricket....my son was up until 12:15 last night singing to the eggs!  I really think it helped to as first thing this morning they were still at the same point as when I made him go to bed last night.  Then after he woke this morning he was back to his singing and in no time we had a hatch! 

@Kricket - where are you at now?  How many have hatched? Pipped?  #of days?  Just trying to keep things straight.

I'm at 28 days today with Indian Runners - set 10 eggs - had 7 viable at lockdown - have hatched 2 so far - no others pipped at this moment but seeing some slight movement in other eggs...I think. It's hard to tell if the eggs are moving or if the baby ducks are making them wiggle.  How long are you guys leaving your ducklings in the bator before moving to the brooder?

I am so very impressed with just reading this thread.  It gives me another perspective of how complicated it seems to even hatch the little peepers.  We have sooo many wild chickens and so many moms running with all the little babies follow.  I saw on hen put 13 chicks under her wings they are so awesome. So peepe midwifs carry on.

Any progress Kricket?  Hope the little ones are doing well...did the one you helped out bounce back? 

I still just have two...not much action in the bator...bummer:(  I see a few wiggles from one egg but that is it.  I've noticed that the bator is low on water.  Not sure if I should open it and add more or not.  Any opinions on adding water at day 28?

That's great Kricket. Hopefully the other two will progress soon. Have the other two you are talking about pipped? Okay so I candled my eggs again this morning, and I have three out of five that have made the internal pip. The air cells do look a little bigger then they did a few days ago so hopefully they are big enough for the other two. Once I saw the internal pip I increased my humidity by filling all of the moisture rings, and I added two wet sponges. I hope that will bring the humidity up enough. I wonder how long it will take for them to make the external pip. I am going to have to sit on my hands since I am lockdown now.

@Kricket - Congrats!  That is great!  Sounds like things have gone well with your hatch!  I'm curious, did you have a hydrometer and keep track of % of humidity throught your incubation and hatch process?

I still have just the two little ducklings.  They are doing awesome and are sooo cute!!!  My kids are in LOVE with them so that is really fun to watch as well!  Last night my bator went dry so I added more water and candled 4 of the 5 remaining eggs.  1 egg I removed as it was dead - so sad becasue it was chirping at me Saturday afternoon but I could see that it had internally pipped, no movement and I saw a blood ring.  2 eggs I could see the air cells with shadowing at the edge but couldn't determine movement as they were so dark and I was trying very hard to hurry.  1 egg I could see movement and what may have possibly been internal pipping - but as soon as I saw the movement I laid it back down in the bator and closed the lid.  1 last egg I have no idea about - I was too worried to keep the lid open in hopes to save the egg with movement.  I felt discouraged this morning as I hadn't noticed the eggs wiggling but after kids got off to school I took another look at the bator and notice a small pip in the egg that candled movement last night.  Yay!  I'm praying for success with this egg!
