I have a small coop with a good sized run, but inside for lighting venting food and water it gets really tight. The food and water I figured out but I don't want the girl to burn their litle heads on a lamp. HELP!!!

What's your location and how old are your birds?  They probably don't need a lamp if they're a month or so old...

Thanks for the reply. They are 1-1/2 years old and we live in central Oregon. Not so much in need of light now but in the winter we only get about 7 hours of daylight so I am planing ahead.

Either don't use artificial light or put a bulb guard on (or make one from hardware cloth) and use the lowest watt bulb you can find.

I am thinking about no artificial light. Less eggs per year but potentially more productive laying years without it based on what I've read.
