coop roof (fiberbglass?) and floor

My husband has designed and is now building our large tractor coop.  We decided to do a clear fiberglass for the roof, is there any reason NOT to do this?  We thought it would brighten it up and make it nice for the hens.

Also, he has designed the floor of the coop so it is hinged and can be opened from the bottom for easy cleaning.  Is there any reason not to do this?  And I think he is going to use house vents for the venting around the top.  Is that okay?

Thanks for your help?

The clear fiberglass would be a good choice for me so the winter sun could heat the coop. In the summertime, it may get hot unless the roof could be tarped or if it is under shade trees.

Oh thanks! I didn't consider the summer making it hot. Yes, we can tarp it. Buts good it can warm up in winter, didn't consider that either!. We are in Arkansas so we usually have a nice cold winter and a very humid, hot summer. smile.png
