Spotted Geese

Thread Starter

Just from curiosity.

I've seen the spotted geese hatching eggs offered on eBay.  Has anyone bought those? Did you get spotted geese from the eggs?  I am wondering if the color breeds true.

(Colored like Ancona ducks, for anyone who hasn't seen them)

I hatched out a couple from fowlrus and they're pretty amazing.  Big healthy and strong little critters, actually, not so little anymore, at a month they are about almost a pound.  Awesome markings too, not quite as defined as Anconas, more like a wash.  Great temperaments too, I love my goslings and they love me. big_smile.png

I have two spotted geese.  One is completely white with blue eyes except under its wings in dark grey polka dots.  The other is a grey and white splotched bird, very pretty both of them.  They are 4 months old.

I have never had geese before.  Any clue on how to tell gender.

I will post picks from my other computer.

The only way to tell gender with geese is by size, unless you have Pilgrim geese in which the males are white while the females are grey. I've never heard of Spotted geese before. They sound pretty!

We have a flock of chickens (mostly Seramas), Call and Mallard ducks, a rescued Chinese goose, a Royal Palm turkey, button quail, Coturnix quail and 6 parrots.

Myfine that isn't true. You can tell gender in two ways: vent sexing, DNA sexing.
