Male duck mating in the female too much?

I would personally separate them and give her a break. I had a pekin that would pretty much rape whatever he could get, hens, drakes, dogs, us, goats....ect....needless to say he got shipped out
rofl That's kinds tragic and kinda hilarious... I had a 12 week old (chicken) rooster mated another roosters head today...

I have the exact same problem with my male duck, though we have 5 females along with him. We have 3 Buff females, 2 Pekin females, and one Pekin male all in a big coop and a long run. What's odd is that the Pekin male seems to mate with the Buff ducks more, but he's leaving the Pekins all beaten up (Bare necks, ruffled feathers, and one even has a limp wing! (It could be mild angel wing) I read online before getting my ducks that the males need many females so they don't over mate, but that hasn't stopped my male. I suppose I should separate him? Should I consider giving him away? Problem is, he's imprinted on the rest of the flock. What do you guys think?

My problem is solved now! All I did was separate the male from the females for a few weeks, then put him back with the females. While I've been around my ducks, I tried to discourage mating by taking the male off the female as soon as he tried to mate. It's WORKED!

I have six ducks, so I think that is a good number for balanced mating. If your problem consists, I'd consider getting more females... I personally couldn't bear to let go of ANY of my ducks!

Im a new duck owner and my female runner is also loosing her feathers on her neck. I only have 2 females and 2 males. Do I need to separate them?

@Wyoducklover Welcome to BYC..

I would separate the drakes from the females your female looks pretty chewed up and next will be her skin.

If you plan on keeping 2drakes you need to add more females it's best to have at least 2 females per drake but actually 3-4 per drake is better.

Yes sometimes one duck is over mated and others are ignored. I have no idea why.

Anyone else?
The pekin ducks will always have a favourite so for as long as the favourite is there, he will want her. best thing to do is only have them out together a few hours a day supervised and shuu the male off when the female keeps running away, you will find she will start to run near you to protect herself from him.
