It's a good idea but my run is very very very wide. I'm using the barn as my coop and the former corral as my run. Yours looks lovely!

Your problem with adding a roof to a five foot fence is that unless you're under five feet tall, it's going to be rather uncomfortable for you to enter this run. A couple of folks here have used four foot high dog kennels and faced the same situation. Some have done what we did; added a "hoop" roof to the run using PVC/electrical pipe and hardware cloth:
