New to Quail!

I bought two coturnix quail at a chicken swap and I LOVE them! We got a hen and a rooster. One is the wild coloring(hen) and the other is either tibetan or chocolate(that's the male). I got them as pets and just for another project. They are both 5 weeks old. I have a few questions:

What are the color possibilities with crossing the two?

How many eggs a week do they lay?

Thanks!

They lay an egg a day, should get 2 or 3 more hens tho or he might kill her.

i wouldn't really call it an egg a day, usually 5-6 per week tho. average of about 320 eggs a year. the smallest thing wil lmake them stop laying ex. switching feed, moving blah blah.

you should get mainly pharaoh colors mix with some dark range, be wary tho as you can't tell the sex of the birds by looking at them unless they are of the pharaoh, golden, manchurian colors. check out the stickies at the top of the quail page for TONS of info on coturnix

also this page should help http://www.stellar-gamebirds.com/Coturnix-Quail-Information.html

If I were you I would get 3 more hens, the male is going to start driving her crazy in about a week or two and he might end up either hurting her or killing her, being that she is the only female. I have 4 hens with 1 roo in one pen and 3 hens and 1 roo in another, the males are pretty aggresive with the females and one of my A&M females ended up with a very bloody head and had to be removed from the bunch until she healed.  They need at least 3 females to keep themselves "preoccupied" you could say.
