I will be receiving day-old chicks from a local grain store next week. I have ordered 4 (Supposedly female). However, you are entitled to 6 free chicks (straight run) per bag of feed that you purchase. I do not want the six "meat" chickens, but a friend of mine does. Will keeping her six and my four chicks together for a week decrease the odds of my chicks' survival? She lives two hours away. Should I keep them in seperate brooding boxes to be safe?
