We got these two youngsters today (not sure about their sex yet) and we just can't figure out what they are? Probably a mix of breeds, but of which? If anyone cares to have a guess, I will be grateful. Anyway, I think they are just very cute. :-) I've always had a weakness for chickens with feathery feet.

Thanks everyone! Is there any way to know what other breeds are mixed in there, apart from silkies? Can anyone tell whether these are males or females, or is it too early to know? They are still chirping, not clucking.

Oh, and I know silkies are good brooders. Are mixed ones good for that purpose too? So far we've been trying to get our hens to brood, with little success.

The barred one would be a rare & expensive find if it had the silkie comb & skin.

Oh, and the grey one kind of quaks like a duck! Is that normal??

Sounds like she just has a harsher "cheep" than the other 1. It happens. I can tell several of mine apart just by hearing them.

The barred one kind of looks like a cross between a Barred Rock and a Silkie or a Polish..

The white one looks like a Polish and Silkie..

Just my thoughts..
