good ducks for people with close neighbors

All ducks are really loud.  Every breed.

The only quiet "duck" is the Muscovy, which isn't a duck.  It's a shelduck and much closer related to geese.

Geese, by the way, are really loud, too.

Unfortunately, there are no quiet non-muscovy breeds for female ducks.   There are quieter breeds, but none that are truly quiet.  And mallards are LOUD.  Sorry.

Of my six ducks the quietest ones I have are my two runners and my swedish. they are still fairly young though, I dont know if they get louder as they mature but right now they are about two months old.

My loudest ducks are my Runners, followed by my Rouens. So far my quietest ones are the Campbells. They are still noisy at times, mostly first thing in the morning, then when they are all going outside for the day, and then when they are getting some peas as a treat. Mine are 8 weeks.

We have 16 hens, 1 adult female muscovy mix, 1 adult male mallard call duck, and 12 pekin ducklings.  The muscovy is very quite, rarely quacking and sometimes makes squeaky noises that are very quiet.  The mallard call duck quacks, but I don't think it's loud per se.  The pekin ducklings do a LOT of squeaking so far (only 3 weeks old), so I am not sure what they will be like full grown.  Our chickens make SOOO much more noise than the ducks.  So for us, ducks seem quiet.

I don't have ducks but I think that the only quiet duck you'll find is a Muscovy. Just saying

I'm new to owning ducks. The first thing I looked for in a duck was how loud it was going to be. I live in the city, so my neighbors are close. I wanted and still really do want Pekin ducks. I ended up deciding I couldn't get a Pekin because of my neighbors and how loud the duck would get. I was told to get Muscovies as they are quieter. I'm not 100% sold on their looks either, but as I read about them and talked with Muscovy owners I fell in love with them. I still think the males are kinda ugly looking though . Either way I didn't care. I wasn't picking my ducks on looks, I was picking for personality and how loud they were. Last weekend I went and picked up my 4 Muscovy ducklings. I couldn't be more happier with them . They are so loving, full of personality and a lot of fun. I think if you gave them a chance, you'd actually really enjoy them.

I have campbells and they talk to each other and quack at me when I go to feed them but otherwise are pretty quiet. If one gets separated when they are free ranging then it will call for the others but then when they are together again then all is quiet.
