You need to "Ferberize" your chicks.  Mine are almost 8wks old - big enough to be fine on their own overnight with our current temps - and they cry every night when we put them up for the night.  I think they want a night light honestly.  It is the first time, too, that I raise a batch with a white heat bulb instead of a red one.  When they were still instead (and plenty warm) if I turned the lights off, they would cry like someone was trying to kill them.  The noise would stop immediately as soon as I turned the lights back on (and start again after lights out). They will be fine.  You, however, might need some ear plugsbig_smile.png

i too had the same problem with my babies. i couldnt leave them without a nitelight, so i took an old strand of red rope lights left over from christmas, and ran it around the ledge of the poop tray under their roost. they love their xmas nightlight amd make happy trilling noises when i say goodnight to them now! maybe this idea will help!

Tonight will be night 3 for me. The first time I tried to put them in the coop, it stormed. So I ran out and brought them all back to the brooder tank. Now I pace and fret and say goodnight multiple times. My husband teases me that he can't wait to see how I will act when we have human babies. Sigh. This is my first time. It gets easier, right mommies???
