Age for identifying rooster? Buff Orpington.

Barred rocks are the same in friendliness in many people's opinion. They follow you around like dogs. Wish I had better experience with BO's. From the breeder around here, they are just average in the friendliness department.
My barred rocks were always easy to handle, and the kids always favoured them. Even compared to the silkies which every kid loves.

On top of that, they look particularly good with Buff Orpingtons. The two colours really complement eachother

My buff orpington is fostering five barred rock chicks I bought from a reputable breeder. She is a wonderful mother. She can cover all 5 at 5 weeks of age + a full grown silkie. She is super mom lol

I agree! I have 3 barred Rocks and 4 Buffs and they DO look good together! The Barred Rocks have been especially sweet and snuggly. I took one with me to run errands and she nested in my elbow and was so well behaved and quiet. People didn't even notice she was there, lol! On the ride home she insisted on sitting and sleeping in my cupped hand. I fell asleep together with one of them on the couch the other night. Just laid down a towel underneath her and tucked her under the blanket with me and we both went straight to sleep :)

The the Barred Rocks in your photos roosters or hens? I am still learning to tell the difference. If I have photos of the two genders side by side, no problem but alone I am not always sure. I am new to raising Chickens but I always wanted them. This has been even better than I imagined!

I wound up with 3 roosters out of a straight run of 12, as they got a bit bigger the 3 largest turned out to be the roosters also their combs developed faster. Sorry but I dont remember the age but 2 mos seems about right.

Could someone please let me know if this is a rooster or a hen.

Several people have looked at it and said it was a hen. But, it crows every morning and has not provided any eggs as of yet.

Thank you in advance.

Newbie to the board but s/he sure does look like a dude. I think it's a cockerel.... I see the sickle feathers in the back too. Good Luck!
