Easy chicken run plans?

Depends on the predator. Diggers, bury the fence, set it on buried concrete blocks or line the outside with blocks or rocks. Climbers, put a welded wire cover over it, also good for hawks and such too. Also a couple strands of electric fence can work. Be sure to always use welded wire because fox, coyote, coons, etc can bite through chicken wire. Bears, good luck...lol. Mine is 4 foot high welded wire folded 6 inches over onto ground. My coop is secure now for all my predators which are primarily night critters and all my chickens go in at night. I don't really have a daytime problem and my carport has kept all flying predators out.

This is ours....the only wood in it is the people door. The first photo is without the lattice fencing in front, which we just added to make it look pretty. It's withstood a wind gust of 90 mph this past January, and regular winds that can go up to 40 with gusts up to 60. Snow load doesn't phase it and it's stood strong with no repairs or modifications for years. Bonus - cheap to build, and easy. Hubby and I were in our mid 60s when we built it and we both have some degree of disability. We put it up by ourselves in one weekend. There are more photos of the build and better explanations on our coop page - look under my avatar for the link to "My Coop". Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

I neglected to address the predator question that was asked. We wired hardware cloth up the sides about 2 feet, folded it outward at the bottom and extended it over the ground about 2 more feet (measurements not exact) to deter diggers. It worked beautifully. Our ground is hard packed clay and rock, so digging a trench and burying wire was out of the question for us. Where the hardware cloth folds out on to the ground, we secured it with landscape fabric staples pounded in. At first we were going to cover it with rocks, but before we had the chance the grass started growing right up through the wire. Perfect!! No rock crevices for smaller pests to hide, and we were able to mow right up to the edge of the run. We could stand upright in the run and even use rakes and such inside.
