egg on day 24 still alive but no pip

I have an egg on day 24. The chick is still moving in its shell. It started peeping Sunday night. I put a small pinhole in the top Tuesday. It hasn't pipped. How long should I wait on it? Should I help it out? Everyone else came out Saturday and Sunday.

Should I cover the hole and see if that jump starts it to hatch?

It is still alive but not trying to hatch.

Well I had one pip on day 25. It was rocking the whole day before.  It ended up dying. I am not sure what happened.  I let it run its course though just in case! I would say that you should just try waiting a little longer as long as you know it is alive! GL!

I picked the top of its shell off. It is shrunk wrapped. I have it wrapped in wet paper towels. Will have to see how it goes now.

I hope for the best for you but I myself did not have good luck when I helped my last two littles out of the shells. The one seemed very vibrant and healthy but did not make it, who knows what kind of problems he had I guess, I thought he was just shrink wrapped due to perhaps too high of humidity during incubation. I have a new hatch due in 3 days with a different humidity then the first time so hopefully it turns out better. Its very stressful to try and get it right for these little ones.

Good luck to you!

22 hatched out of 31. Two pipped but died before they zipped. I had 7 eggs left in there. Only one still had movement. Ive had a hard time keeping the humidity up for that last one. I think the only reason its still alive is the pinhole I put in it Tuesday.

22 out of 31 first off is a victory in my book!

When I hatched last time, it was my first, wow a way to learn a lot.... fast.

When the first one hatched, I knew at least that I had done something right, I mean, one chick made it... then came the others.

It is so stressful but worth it in the end.

My last hatch was 13 out of 16. Two died before lockdown. One I thought was dead and I killed it when I opened it. Otherwise it would have been 14.
