Runt not growing

Thread Starter

I hatched 5 chicks over a week ago and the last one to hatch (2 days behind the rest) is still really tiny. She seemed really off balance and I had to handfeed her until now. Now she is eating and drinking on her own but is still super tiny! Her wing feathers are finally starting to grow out and she will eat a piece of food the size of her head!! I'm wondering if she will ever catch up with the rest or if she's going to be a midget chicken? She's definately got the will to live and I've more than given her a chance, she loves to be carried around like a pet! Any advice or suggestions to help her grow? I've been feeding her scrambled eggs & starter.

While I did not hatch my chicks, I received 5 from a hatchery, and one was significantly smaller than the others. It always seemed to have a huge full crop as well (after the first day or so), and i was paranoid any time i would see it sleeping whle the others were awake. I was prepared to have it not survive. They are a week and a half old now, and I'm not sure I can point out the runt anymore. I'm just feeding them chick starter. Maybe they are just a late bloomers and will catch up soon. Sorry I don't have any advice for you but I at least could tell you about our runt.
