We have a flock of five Plymouth Rock hens that are just a year old and laying lots of eggs! Because they love kitchen scraps of all kinds I made a little bin to encourage neighbours to drop a bag of lettuce trimmings, potato peels or stale bread and whatever else would otherwise go to waste, in the bin whenever they are out walking the dog. Fun and builds community too! :)

1 Rhode Island Red, 2 Easter Eggers, 1 Leghorn, 1 Silver Spangled Hamburg, 1 Light Brahma, 1 polish, 1 buff Orpington and 2 Wyandottes (1 GL, 1BLR) And 1 barnyard special that seems to be brahmaish (the one and only egg that hatched in our science experiment)
dreaming of a bigger place and more girls......

I think your bin is an absolutely awesome idea. It's so true, my chickens are pretty much the place where all our leftover food goes.
