What would I get by crossing Cornish x Wyandotte?

Hello all,

I will be constructing a coop for my Wyandottes soon, and will put only the most exceptional birds in it. I have quite a few Wyandottes, and I just ordered some eggs from a great bloodline, so I know that I'll have quite a few extras that aren't pretty enough to make it into the coop.

I'm planning on putting the 'rejects' into a separate coop, and was wondering what I might get if I put a Cornish roo over them? I figure any time we're planning a barbeque or something we can just put some of those eggs in the incubator and be set.

I'm not interested in what color, feathering, or lacing they will have - I mean will they make decent meat birds? How might the chicks temperament be like? How fast will they develop in comparison to a Cornish over a Rock? Will they get similar muscling?

(I mean quite literally a Cornish over a Rock - not a Cornish x Rock. I know the Cornish x Rocks are a well kept secret and nothing can compare to their size and growth rate.)

Thanks!

Jenne

You'll either get a Corndotte or a Wynish.          lau.gif

Should be good birds for eating.  Are you talking breeder Cornish or hatchery Cornish?

With hatchery I don't thinnk you'll get really big birds but should make descent birds all around.

LOL..

You're right about that!

I don't have the Cornish roo yet (didn't want to jump the gun). I've been keeping my eye on the BST forum for any quality Dark Cornish (I've read that they are hardier, and I am not fond of solid white or solid black chickens, so that rules out the White Cornish!).
