Hi! I am new here and new to raising Chickens!

Hi Everyone:

My name is Allison and my husband and I live on a small hobby farm. We have 4 rescued horses and a fruit orchard. We just added 6 golden buff chicks to our farm last month - we are new and complete novices to raising chickens! I can't wait to dig in here and learn all kinds of new things!

Any words of wisdom for the newbie?? jumpy.gif

My husband & I {along with our 2 children} also have a hobby farm {Cows, Goats, Pigs}...and in 2 weeks we will be welcoming 12 baby chicks to our 'farm family'! So like you, we are also novice in the 'chicken raising' department! This site has taught me SO much about getting ready for our chicks & raising laying hens! Really makes me breath a sigh of relief when I can come on here & get an answer to any question I have smile.png

Home of the world's cutest dachshund, one crazy blue heeler, two cats,
one fat pony, and many (but not too many!) chickens

Can anyone tell me, how many are too many chickens?

Helen: Daria, do you have to look at everything in such a negative light?

Daria: Could you possibly be referring to the harsh light of reality?
