I'm going to be on a plane for the very first time May 16!! I'm flying to San Francisco, CA from Alabama.

I'm so scaaaared! And excited. And scared but also excited.

Ohhhh!!!!!!!! What is it like?!?!

I'm scared of the airport part.. I'm afraid of missing my flight and other horrible things like that. :(

my wifes first flight was from Tennessee to India, roughly 36 hours. You'll be fine.

I think my first flight was Leeds to Lanzarote, my first out of Europe holiday.
Stay safe, I'm sure you'll be okay!
Get to the airport about half an hour earlier than they suggest, that'll give you time for queues and checking in delays. I've had some before. lol.png
Look out of the window during take off and landing. It's so awesome to see the city that you live in from above. big_smile.png

Flying is so exciting. It's one of the best parts about going on holiday IMO!

There is nothing to flying. There are bumps, odd noises, turbulence, but it is nothing.+1 for getting a window seat. I try to figure out where we are by the terrain below. Take a state road atlas along and try to identify the interstates and cities below. It can be done.

The airport though? I refuse to fly now due to the TSA screening process. I can pass any FBI, ATF, etc... background check. I shouldn't have to be exposed to XRays just to board a plane.

I luv flying

Flying itself is great.  I love feeling the acceleration of the take-off and landing.  +10 on the window seat.  And I also like to try and identify cities as we're flying over.  Arrive at the airport 2 hours before your flight.  Make sure your e-ticket code and driver's license are easily accessible and go to the bathroom before you board.  (If you think a porta-john is snug, wait until you see an airplane bathroom. :)

The whole TSA experience is eyeroll-inducing and a royal PITA though, so I only fly if I have to be somewhere fast.

Oh... and don't put anything in the seat pocket in front of you!  I will guarantee you will forget to retreive it as you disembark!

I like it.  You might get really nervous or even scared when it first takes off.  Almost like the roller coaster feeling.

Just remember to give yourself plenty of time to get through the airport and to your gate, and you will be fine.  There's nothing like looking out the windows of the plane at the tops of clouds.
