I have 2 Australorp hens ready to hatch out their eggs, one due tomorrow...I have looked at the eggs, (My first time doing this), are they supposed to look different than when they were first sat on?

They look a bit odd, but then again, this is my first time hatching out eggs....

If they are clear, and don't look any different, they are probably infertile or stopped developing really on. sad.png

not clear....just different looking...I can't imagine all 5 of her eggs are not fertile...I have 2 roosters and every egg I eat, is fertile. I will wait and see, there are 7 eggs under the other hen. Time will tell I suppose. If by Monday they have not hatched, I am tossing them out, that will be 22 to 23 days.

If they are ready to hatch in the next day or to, then about 2/3 of the egg should be really dark and you shouldnt be able to see anythng but a dark blob.  The larger end should have a good size air cell.
