I have 2 roos. One is a Mille Fleur D'Uccle that ive had for over a year. The other is his 4 month old son, crossed with a Silkie. Even having one roo is pushing the boundaries with the DH and im sure i will have to give one up. I have been agonizing and stressing for several days over this, as they are both very special to me. Perhaps you guys can help??

Feisty is a good roo. He is the D'Uccle. Looks like your standard Mille Fleur D'Uccle roo. He takes care of his ladies (even tho they mostly ignore him, since hes a little guy, and they are big girls) and he has produced many beautiful babies for me. His crow is not totally obnoxious, he generally sleep a bit later (think 6, rather than 4) and he has never attacked me.

Roo #2 (still unnamed) is very calm and sweet. He has not started crowing yet, (only about 4 Months old) so i dont know how adulthood will affect his personality, but i think he should stay pretty nice. He is super cute and ecclectic. Mostly white, with black tail feathers, and neck feathers that are white, with a black stripe and fringed in very light tan. He has face muffs, a beard, mohawk feathers, blue skin and 5 toes, as well as feathered feet.

I am really leaning towards the Silkie cross, just because hes so different, eccclectic and friendly. I even took him into a classroom for a guest speech and he was passed around from student to student..... but i dont know what his babies would turn out to look like, and as he hasnt started crowing, im worried it might be worse than Feisty. Plus, i do love Feisty, just because i do....

I have found a lovely 5 acre farm for whichever is going, and the woman has a nice large flock and another D'Uccle roo.....

Please HELP ME DECIDE!!

Seems like a very personal decision to me. I guess I'd go with the one I've had the longest because I feel like you have a bigger commitment then. That is simply my mind and how it works though.

Loving my poultry. Have Guineas as well!

Interesting that I just now read this - because a few minutes ago I had to make a very similar decision. I had to decide whether to keep "Leroy" - a beautiful EE rooster that was supposed to be a pullet (He was the 10% from their 90% sexing accuracy). The other rooster is from private breeder stock - absolutely gorgeous - all grey/blue. Leroy has been the dominant rooster of our flock for the past few months - and DH and grandkids love him. When the grangirls are over here and Leroy crows, they cheer for him. I had decided to sell Leroy, though - because the other rooster was so gorgeous. However, I finally decided that my allegiance was to Leroy. So I just listed the other rooster on Craigslist. I don't plan to breed EEs - so whether or not they're hatchery or private stock doesn't matter.

awww... don't really have any advice but just wanted to send a hug to you. It is nice to meet such nice people who love their chickens, like I do. They are my little feathered babies.

I say butter up your husband and keep both. Make him dinner, tell him you want to go TV shopping, do what you have to do. If that doesn't work I agree with keeping the proven rooster. You never know what kind of temper roosters develop around maturity and it would certainly suck to get rid of the year old millie fleur just to find out puberty made silkie too aggressive to enjoy.

My housemates have told me countless times to downsize my animal hobby. I always agree with them and then never do it.. worked so far I guess.

Im currently liquidating a few hens to make room for new ones. I have decided to keep them both until i can see him as an adult. I have a hhome lined up for wwhichever one i choose and the woman said anytime im ready, she will take him, so i have a little time to be more sure. The tried and true rooo is not friendly and never has been. At least the Silkie cross has potential.
